President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attributed the ruling All Progressives Congress’s (APC) early involvement in political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections to opposition parties, while asserting his commitment to delivering effective leadership for Nigerians.
The President made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with governors from the North East region, led by Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Zulum said the regional leaders are committed to partnering with the President to ensure good governance, leaving behind enduring legacies and developmental landmarks for the nation.
During the session, the governors also presented key requests, including measures to tackle insecurity and proposals for critical infrastructure projects.
In response, President Tinubu acknowledged the challenges confronting the North East, commending the governors’ efforts, particularly their collaboration with security agencies through the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF). He also hinted at engaging the National Assembly on the issue of State Police as part of broader security reforms.
