The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a comprehensive timetable for its 2025/2026 nationwide congresses, marking the formal commencement of the party’s internal leadership transition ahead of its national convention.
The schedule, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, was made public via the APC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. It outlines a structured, multi-stage process that will see new leaders elected from the ward level through to the national hierarchy.
According to the timetable, the process began on December 1, 2025, with a nationwide membership e-registration exercise. The two-month exercise, which ends on January 30, 2026, is aimed at sanitising and validating the party’s membership database before the commencement of congresses.
Elective activities will begin in February with ward congresses scheduled nationwide for February 18, 2026. This will be followed by local government area (LGA) congresses on February 20, during which each LGA will elect three delegates to the national convention, with a mandatory requirement that at least one delegate must be female.
State congresses to elect state executive committees are slated for March 7, 2026, while zonal congresses will hold simultaneously across the six geopolitical zones on March 21, in designated cities including Ibadan, Enugu and Kaduna.
The process will culminate in the APC National Convention, scheduled to take place in Abuja from March 25 to March 28, 2026.
The party stated that all congresses will be conducted in line with Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution. It also provided for appeal windows after each stage—ward, LGA, state and zonal—to address grievances and resolve internal disputes ahead of the national convention.
