Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Rivers State, Sen. Magnus Ngei Abe says violence witnessed in the state is being sponsored by local government chairmen on the orders of the governor and party leaders.
Senator Magnus Ngei Abe made the allegation during an interview on Channels TV Politics Today on Thursday.
According to him the violence is not a case of unknown gunmen, adding that the gunmen are known.
“There are no ‘unknown gun men’ terrorizing Rivers state, What is at play in Rivers State is a ‘State Sponsored terrorism,” he said.
He alleged that the chairmen lead thugs to attack political rallies of opposition parties and called on security operatives to live up to expectation.
The SDP candidate said he has been going about his campaigns peacefully and would not encourage violence no matter what.
He also said no form of intimidation can stop him from going round the state to meet with Rivers people, as it is his constitutional right to do so.
He urged his supporters not to be deterred by the antics of the state government, and urged Rivers people to vote for the SDP to see what they have have not seen before.
Abe declared that a vote for the SDP is a vote for a better Rivers State where you don’t need to know the governor to succeed.
