Rivers State Government has announced activities in commemoration of the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in the State.
Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, while addressing the Central Planning Committee on Monday in Port Harcourt, stated that activities will kick-start with the Emblem Appeal Fund on Tuesday, 20th December, 2022.
The SSG said other activities include Juma’at Prayers on Friday 6th January, 2023, an Inter-denominational Church Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 8th January, 2023 and the grand finale which will hold on Sunday, 15th January, 2023. His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, Governor of Rivers State, is the Special Guest of Honour for all the events.
“This is an opportunity to call on the military, government officials and well meaning citizens of the State to ensure that we join hands to support our fallen heroes, their families, legionnaires and those still serving.
“The way we appreciate the retired ones encourages those in service to continue to give their best. We are aware Nigeria today needs more than the best of the military considering the security situation of the country. It is an opportunity for the government and citizens to appreciate the Military”, the SSG added.
He charged members of the committee to mobilize and work assiduously to organize a memorable event for the State and her people.
Members of the committee were drawn from the security agencies, MDAs and other relevant organizations.
