Sixteen persons have been rescued after a boat accident at the Kalio-Ama River in Okirika, Rivers State.
According to the Okrika Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Alabo Soberekon who made this incident known to journalists, the boat was conveying passengers from Okrika to Marine Base.
He said the bravery of the youths of the community saved the situation as they gallantly saved all the passengers on board. No life was lost he noted.
Soberekon called on boat drivers to be cautious this rainy season when driving. The driver of the boat said the accident occurred as a result of refuse in the river.
