The Rivers State Government has said from October 1 2020, it would begin the closure of all abbatoirs in the state that do not meet the required sanitary standard in line with laws of the state. The state commissioner for Agriculture Fred Kpakol, who disclosed this yesterday in Port Harcourt, called on those operating such slaughter houses to desist from the illegal act. He urged slaughter operators who are yet to register with the ministry to do so and obtain their licenses.
